Monica’s life has always revolved around the sea. Her parents owned a shipping company, she trained as a boatbuilder, and she worked as a helmsman for much of her life.

In 2013 Monica Fabricius became the owner of HCC Boatyard in Marstal, Ærø. Today, the yard has 14 employees, each masters of crafts ranging from metalworking to electrics. As well as increasing the yard’s focus on sustainability, Monica’s attention to detail is a strong draw for customers. In fact the quality of their work means they rarely see the same boat twice.
